Dr. Lothar Beyer-Prize

 Dr. Lothar Beyer-Prize

The research program "Sustainable Depression Therapy in Primary Care", which includes PRoMPT (PRimary Care Monitoring for depressive Patients Trial) as a core project, was awarded with the German Research Award for Primary Care-Dr. Lothar-Beyer Award in 2008 (worth €25,000).

The knowledge gained in the research project has made a significant contribution towards sustainably improving primary care diagnostics and therapy for patients with depression.

The prize, which was offered for the first time by the Dr. Lothar Beyer-Foundation and with the support of the German Society of General Practice and Family Medicine (DEGAM), rewarded excellent research work on "Healthcare for Mental Problems and Illnesses in the Family Practice". The foundation was set up in memory of Dr. Lothar Beyer (1955-2005) by his family and is managed by the German Institute of General Practice.

The award ceremony took place in Berlin on September 26, 2008 as part of the 42nd Congress of the German Society of General Practice and Family Medicine (DEGAM) in Berlin.
